Who we are
The World Cup Files is a bilingual audio archive produced by Starlit Productions. This website is operated at theworldcupfiles.com.
What data we collect
We collect only the information you voluntarily provide:
- Email address — when you subscribe to receive the Field Guide or episode notifications.
- Language preference — whether you chose English or Spanish at the time of signup.
- Source — which form you used to subscribe (Field Guide, footer, or live coverage notification).
We do not collect names, payment information, location data, or any other personal information.
How we use your data
Your email address is used exclusively to:
- Send you the Field Guide PDF you requested.
- Notify you when new episodes are released.
- Send occasional updates about The World Cup Files.
We will never sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties.
Where your data is stored
Subscriber data is stored securely in Supabase (hosted in the United States) with row-level security enabled. Email delivery is handled by Resend. Both services comply with industry-standard security practices.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. We store your language preference in your browser's local storage — this never leaves your device.
We use **PostHog** for privacy-respecting, session-only analytics: no cookies, no persistent identifiers, no behavioural profiling, no session recording. Each browser tab gets an in-memory identifier that is discarded when the tab closes. PostHog respects your browser's Do Not Track signal. Aggregate pageview metrics help us understand which episodes are most popular and improve the show.
We do not use Google Analytics, advertising trackers, or any other third-party scripts.
Your rights
You can request to:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Delete your data entirely.
- Unsubscribe from all communications.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below.
Children's privacy
The World Cup Files is designed for audiences aged 8 and above. The audio content is suitable for children, but every form on this site that collects personal data (newsletter signup, Field Guide download, episode notifications) requires the user to confirm they are **13 years or older** (16 or older in the EU; 14 or older in Spain). Submissions that fail this age confirmation are refused server-side.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with their email address, please contact us at the address below and we will delete it immediately.
If you are a **parent or guardian** signing up to receive episodes for your child, please email us at **hello@theworldcupfiles.com** rather than using the on-site forms — that way we can record your consent properly and tag the data accordingly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
